Peace And Tranquility Meets my Kidlets

Last week I woke up one morning and had a "bright" idea.  How about I take the kids with me on one of my peaceful and tranquil hikes.  I mean, I love my kidlets and I love to hike so why not mix the two.  How bad could it mean..I mean, won't that be great!  When I asked them if they wanted to go I got two resounding "yes's" and one "no".  So guess who the "no" came from?  Majority rules in this house and off we went.  I am optimistic.

We got our water, fruit and snacks packed and headed up the mountain.

The two "yes" kidlets headed up with determination.  The "no" kidlet dragged, himmed, and hawed.  I could feel my peace and tranquility escaping.  Then came the nagging and I could feel my peaceful place running away.  Then the theats of turning back and we had not even gone 1/4 mile!  Optimism was not replaced with frustration.

But we trudged forward and I hung back and felt like I was on the "Amazing Race".  I turned my tactic from frustration to encouragement and was surprised where that got us.  With every step forward Joey got more confident.  The weather was cloudy and a bit humid but it was nice.

The kidlets finished strong to the top and even were running at the summit!  It was a proud mom moment.  We sat at the top on a rock and snacked and just took in the beauty  The kids see the top when we pass by on the highway so they were proud of how high we were.  Here is a great 360 degree view from the top.

This was one of those days where I wanted to lug the camera about but decided that the camera would come between the kids and our experience.  Instead I had my pocket point & shoot and was able to just enjoy my kids.  Glad we had it because we saw this little guy on the way down!

So would I do it again?  NOT ON YOUR LIFE!  That is my peaceful place.  My time to exercise and rejouvanate.  I enjoy my kids at sea level.  Why take that to a higher elevation?  Consider this one of those learning mom moments.  LOL...

P.S.  So Kelly, if you think you were replaced not a chance!  I miss my hiking buddy!

Happy 4th of July

So we have been busy preparing for our 4th of July BBQ and swim party.  Today we will celebrate America's Birthday with friends. We are all looking forward to it!  This is one of favorite holidays.  How about I share a layout from last year just for the occasion...
July_4

So tomorrow when we are eating and swimming all day we will be filled with American Pride.  Thank God and our Soldiers for our Freedom in this great nation!

Enjoy everyone!

Home Sweet Home...

Well, we have the cleanest refrigerator in all of California!  We had to pack up this house and take the show on the road last week in order to prep for termite tenting!  What a drag but I was sick of letting those buggers live here rent free.  So we packed up every bit of food in this house and packed up for a fun weekend at our friends house.

20090625-TWB_3304 Gotta remember the important stuff!

Here is a photo of some of the friends we visited at a restaurant.  Tyler was so cute there.  He played one of those impossible vending games where you use the jaws to snag a stuffed animal and he won three of them!.  He gave two of them to my two friend's daughters.  Then I saw him walk over and give one to a stranger.  He handed it to the mom and came back and said he saw them trying to get it and thought he should give it to her daughter.  Oh boy was that a proud mom moment!
20090625-TWB_3307

The kids had a great time because staying at Gramma Gigi's and Papa Darrell means no bed times and whatever they want to eat, whenever they want.  We loved the late nights, the naps and the R & R during this stressful time.  We got to visit with great friends.

Thank you to our dear Friends!  We returned to a termite free zone and my mind is at ease again.  We also hit Costco to replenish those clean refrigerator shelves.  Home sweet home....

Anyone want to be my Personal Assistant?

So I can only explain my blog absence with a few photos of my studio.......

20090702-TWB_3325 20090702-TWB_3328

Now I obviously did not stage these photos as I would never leave my socks laying about.  Just posting those here is kicking in my OCD....ok, one more just to see those socks.

So you may be wondering where I have been, what I have been doing and why my studio is in shambles.  I have been busy but have lots of pictures to post and will just get caught up this week.  And my floor is missing because CHA Summer Trace Show (that is Craft & Hobby Association) is just around the corner.  So I will leave you momentarily but will update and post lots this week to show our summer adventures.

To My Father

Daddy-girl-blank So I thought about how I could say Happy Father's Day to my Dad because it just seems like it is not enough.  What do you say to the guy who you wake up repeaditly at 3:00 am throughout your life just to talk?  How do you repay the guy who has been your rock and voice of reason"?  How do you thank the guy who holds you in his arms and you do feel like everything is going to be ok?  What monetary value do you put on the handy man who shows up at your sunny California home where he could easily jump on his bike and just ride but he straps on a tool belt and tackles your household repairs?  Yep, I am a 39 year old self-proclaimed Daddy's Girl.  But who would not be with a Dad like mine?

One day does not seem near enough to thank the guy (along with my mom) who raised me, supported me, and continues to this day to Love me for being just me.  Your the best Dad!  Happy Father's Year!

Love,

Your Daddy's Girl

Fun at the Fair!

Today I woke up and decided to take the kidlets to the San Diego County Fair.  Now for a foodie like me the Fair is kind of like dying and going to heaven except I don't envision that food in heaven will be deep fried with tons of calories.  We decided it would be a day with no time lines, no work and no big cameras (they forgot I have that little pocket one...hence the low quality shots).  Did they actually think I was not going to document this in some way?

So after a trip to the bank to get money (hmmm, I will not use that much money but better get it just in case).  We got to the fair as it opened at 11 am.  With a spring in our steps we set out to eat our way through the Midway.

Our first snack was potato chips with cheese...YUM-O!  That was just a snack to warm up
P6191539 P6191541

We then met up with friends to take in some of the shops and exhibits.  I swear I am sucker for those "As Seen On TV" gizmos  There is nothing better than seeing demos of mops that suck the microorganisms out of your carpet, slicers that make salsa look like making cereal, hair ties that make you look like Princess Leah, chamois that soak up Shamu's tank, and glass cleaner that repels every speck of dust in your house.  They are truly miracles and I am so good at resisting but the three kidlets talked me into the darn slicer and (2) hair holders that "we just have to have".  I could resist but the kidlets have not learned yet.  But rumor has it that I will be served an omelet tomorrow in bed. Of course we had fun in there and Micky loved getting pampered
P6191552 P6191553

Back out we go to fill out tummies with a brisket sandwich and chili cheese fries.  Again, yummy!
P6191555

We took in the photography and art exhibuts as I wanted this adventure to include some worthwhile art appreciation.  Then time to hit the Kidlet area where my very own twins starred in a dog show.  Don't they make the cutest little hurdle!
P6191579 P6191583

Time for desert.  Up to this point we agreed to split all food but desert was all individual choices.  Tyler was just dying for his beloved funnel cake.  How can something so light and airy be so full of calories?  Micky joined him.  All the while I was carrying my 55 lb Joey who was nursing a tummy ache.  That was short-lived when he saw the Icee stand.
P6191584 P6191586

Our legs were giving out so we decided to take the Sky Ride back to the midway.  This was a great view of the Fair.
P6191595 P6191593
P6191632 P6191623

They all started out as daredevils but take note of the death grip.
P6191612

After that we just had to have the Chocolate Covered Bacon. Now I know that sounds gross however how can you go wrong when you mix two of my most favorite foods...
P6191643 P6191644

My favorite ride was the Footsie Wootsie.  I decided I need to install one of these in my living room.
P6191648 P6191646

I think this may have been Tyler's favorite part of the Fair.....
P6191588

So with my last $10 in hand (remember how I wondered if I would use all that money) I had the major decision to go with one of the following; deep fried Twinkie, deep fried S'mores, or the tried and true cinnamon roll.  You cannot go wrong with the cinnamon roll so I had to wrap that up to go and boy was I glad tonight to enjoy this with my tea.
P6191658  P6191657

After all this fun this is how they felt........
P6191666

After all that fun, this is how I felt........boy Bessie I feel your pain.
P6191570

So the moral of the story $100 from ATM, 20 miles on foot, way too calories taken in and all those smiles and laughs...........................absolutely priceless.

Fun Album

I always feel so lucky to work with the latest and greatest in the industry.  I was thrilled to get a box from Clear Scraps and I was challenged to use their new Cog Album.  Lucky that I had all the corresponding Scrap Within Reach's Industrial Park Line to use with it. These masculine papers worked great for Tyler's recent promotion from elementary school.

I also had the pleasure of working with Best Creation Inc's new Glittered Cardstock Line.  Oh is this pretty!  I purchases this inexpensive recycled mini album and altered it with the new glittered line and made this cute mini album of Mick's recent recital...

Stay tuned because it is one month before CHA and all the new stuff is coming out.  This has to be my most favorite time of year and my busiest.

Today I am Tip Toeing Through the Tulips

So as my lovely friend Joana brought to my attention in her comment, the blue bonnets are not currently in bloom so I am sticking to Tip-Toeing Through the Tulips.......today I came home from taking the two little kidlets to swim lessons only to find out that the oldest kidlet had cleaned the whole house.  And when I say clean he actually cleaned!

Nothing on the dining room table and kitchen is clean!....
TWB_3212 TWB_3213

Not one Nerf bullet or gun on the floor and those blankets are folded!
TWB_3218  TWB_3210

And oh my goodness.........check out their rooms!
 TWB_3215 TWB_3216

Do you know how long it has been since I have see the top of this dressor?  There are no mini skateboards, books, socks, etc cluttering the top of it AND he showed me that he did not just stuff things in the closet as I had suspected
TWB_3214

So......I then had to ask "What do you want?" or "Did you break something?".  He said he just did it to be nice and take something off my plate.  WHAT!  Really, this is better than dancing through some silly flowes.  I informed him the significance of what he had done and it was really one of the sweetest things to come home to.

Oh...........I will bask in this moment and the clean house because I know it is short lived.  But this is one of the most blessed moms who despite the 50 million questions and hearing "Mom" all day she loves those little kidlets!

Signs of Summer

Summer vacation has started and a mere week ago I was excited to have the kids home, looking forward to sleeping in, tip-toeing through the tulips and dancing in the blue bonnets.  Yep, I had visions of grandeur and could not wait to have those beautiful little kidlets home with me every day.  Then Friday came and 12 minutes into our summer vacation reality set it....The signs of summer are here:

  1. The sounds of kids fighting constantly
  2. Repeatedly hearing "Mom, I am bored" and "Mom, there is nothing to do"
  3. The sound of Wii Rock Band Drums at 7 am!
  4. "Mom can we go swimming" and five minutes later they are out of the pool and I have 27 towels and 32 swim suits in the laundry.
  5. "Mom, Micky says I am stupid" which can be heard about 42 times per hour. Which brings on "Mom, Joey says my butt stinks".
  6. "Mom can I got to "So-and-so's House because their mom lets us....?"......."Can you drive me?" to which I secretly think "I will pack your bag kid" but refrain.
  7. "Mom, there is nothing to eat in this house".  You just ate lunch 4 minutes ago!
  8. "Mom, what time are swim lessons?", "What time are we leaving?", "Should I put on my swim suit?" which can be heard every 4-7 minutes in the hour prior to leaving for the lessons.
  9. "Mom, can we go to Denny's for Breakfast?"  which usually is followed with "we having nothing to eat."......this can be heard just about every morning at 6:30 am by three separate kids.
  10. Oh and my favorite............tripping over every Nerf gun bullet and hand grenade they have thrown throughout the house at 7 am!

My lovely little kidlets are home and it was a mere one day after school let out that we were walking through Michael's Craft Store (as this brilliant mom figured $50 in crafts would keep them busy the whole summer........HA!) and I could be heard saying "So this is the first day of how many months of summer vacation?"  To which about 20 moms with the same distressed look on their faces smirked with agreement.  I need to find those blue bonnets so I can dance through them.
